Glasgow Airport Rail Link (GARL) is now available as an add-on route for the rail simulator game RailWorks. Our GARL product is published by Railsimulator.com Limited and is distributed through Steam - the online distribution service. Click here to visit the GARL product page on Steam. You can also click here to review our full product manual which gives an in-depth description of the route, features and scenarios that are included in the product.

After receiving a considerable amount of feedback from the RailWorks community we decided to release GARL as an add-on route rather than a standalone PC game title as originally envisaged. This allows users to add their own rolling stock to the route, create their own scenarios and even utilise the advanced assets including signalling for their own route building projects.

Totalize Media have created numerous add-ons for rail simulation games. GARL is our most ambitious project to date featuring the whole route covering 9km of existing track from Glasgow Central to Paisley St James and an additional 1.9km of new track between the proposed Airport Junction and Glasgow International Airport. The newest part of the route has recently been put on hold due to the recent recession but you can now experience a train driver’s journey from Glasgow to the Airport from the comfort of your gaming PC.

From the outset of this project we have aimed to create an extremely accurate and realistic driving experience. To achieve this we have licensed high resolution aerial photography and terrain height data that has been used to model the route allowing for accurate track alignment, real world gradients and realistic placement of buildings and scenery items.

The art style of GARL is heavily biased towards the driver’s eye view. Detail is high around the track network including feature buildings and scenery items but does not extend far from the route. This allows us to add a higher level of realism where it counts.

No new route would be complete without the addition of some new rolling stock. GARL is available complete with the new 3 and 4 car Class 380 Electric Multiple Units currently on order and due for delivery late 2010. Click here for full details.
